I’m sorry to hear that.

Direct speechReported speech
Simple present: “I have internet access.”Simple past: He said he had internet access.
Present progressive: “I am studying.”Past progressive: She said she was studying.
Simple past: “I saw the ad.”Past perfect: Ana said she had seen the ad.
Present perfect: “I have finished.”Past perfect: He said he had finished.
Will: “I will apply.”Would: She said she would apply.

Ejemplo del libro (página 167):

Juan: Do you have access to internet at home? — Pedro: Yes, I do. Juan: How many hours do you spend online? — Pedro: I spend five hours a week on the internet.

Reported: Pedro said that he had internet access, and that he spent five hours per week on the internet.

  • Pedro said that he had internet access.

Recuerda cambiar también los pronombres (I → he/she) y algunas palabras: this → that, here → there, today → that day, now → then.

Calcula con los datos (habilidad del proyecto)

  1. a) The ages of a team are 12, 13, 15, 17 and 18. The average age is and the range is years.

  2. b) The ages of another team are 15, 15, 15, 15 and 15. The average age is and the range is years.

  1. a) The ages of a team are 12, 13, 15, 17 and 18. The average age is 15 and the range is 6 years.

  2. b) The ages of another team are 15, 15, 15, 15 and 15. The average age is 15 and the range is 0 years.

En past perfect: “I have finished” → He said he had finished.

2. Pasa a reported speech: «I spend three hours online», said Lucía.

Lucía said (that) she spent three hours online.
